What should I do with the health form? Mail it in or send it with my child?
You can do either. Mail it in and we will file it for your child’s week of camp. Or you can have your child bring it with them to registration. Be sure both pages are complete and sent in.
Does my daughter/son really need indoor shoes?
What we mean by indoor shoes are shoes other than cleats that can be worn on an astroturf surface or on a gym floor should the sessions be moved indoors because of weather.
Do the dorms have air conditioning?
Due to cool Colorado evenings, most dorms are not air conditioned. We suggest bringing a fan to camp as this will sufficiently cool your room.
If my child is flying in, what does my child do when /he gets off the plane?
Unfortunately due to heightened security at airports, we cannot greet the campers at the gate. Therefore your child should proceed to the baggage claim area where she/he will be met by greeters from the camp who will be dressed in camp gear. The staff will have a list of all arriving campers and will be looking for each one as the flights come in. The shuttle ride from The Denver International Airport to CU takes about 45 minutes. When returning to the airport, the campers will be dropped off at their respective airline counters. We cannot check in each camper individually because of staff availability.
What are the best times for flights should my child fly into camp?
The shuttles will run according to the flight times scheduled. We recommend you arrive the morning of camp before 12 pm and depart on the last day of camp after 1 pm.
Can my child arrive a day early or stay a day late?
Yes and No. For those traveling from afar and anxious campers we can offer to check you in a day early but cannot offer an extra nights stay after camp. A cost of $30 per person for the room will be incurred and campers will be on their own for meals. Staff can assist them in finding a place to eat since the dining facilities will be closed. Shuttle service to and from the airport will also be available. To make us aware of the situation, just fill out the Transportation Request Form sent to you and when we see that your child is arriving on a different date, we will make the appropriate arrangements. If your child is not flying then please call or write to let us know that she will need a room for the extra night.
Can you pick my child up from the train station?
We do not usually service the train station in Denver, CO but if a group of campers arrives by train we can make accommodations. Since we use all of our vans for airport shuttles, we may not be able to meet the campers at the station at the exact time of their train's arrival, but will try to get there when our shuttle schedule allows.
Will my child have access to phone facilities at camp?
All of the dorms for all weeks of camp will have phones in the rooms. Your child will need a calling card to make any call. There are also pay phones in the lobby of the dorm.
Will my child have a chance to go into town to shop?
The campers are allowed to walk to the University Student Center (UMC) where there is a student book store and eating establishments. They must travel in groups of 4 or more and not after dark.
Will my child’s room have a refrigerator, TV, and phone?
No, no, and yes. These are college dorms, not Embassy Suites. Items may be brought and used in the room though.
Can parents come and watch their child?
Yes, the parents are welcome anytime to come and watch their child. We encourage them to come in the evenings to watch the games.
Will my child have access to an equipment store?
No, our camp store carries only limited clothing items, so pack extra equipment if you have it
Are the meals varied enough to accommodate vegetarians?
Yes they are. The dining facilities serve a wide variety of foods to satisfy all campers' needs
What is the ratio of Staff to campers?
Each team at camp consists of two coaches and 14 to 15 players for a 7.5 to 1 ratio.
Do goalkeepers get specialized training in the camp?
Yes, the keepers are trained as a group where technique and tactics are taught by our goalkeeping staff during the day and rejoin their teams at night for the games.
Can a friend or a family member in town pick up my child during camp to go out to eat or visit?
Yes, as long as we have written permission from the parents with the names of the people that your child will be leaving with. The camper must check out and back in with the camp office.
Will my child have access to ice/water at the camp?
There are water fountains in the dorms and the training staff will provide water at each field for the campers to drink. Campers are encouraged to bring their own water container. There will be ice available for injuries only.
What kind of supervision do the campers get in the dorms?
We hire Dorm Supervisors whose job it is to be in the dorms at all times that the campers are in the dorms. Also from two to four staff members reside on each floor of the dorm should a camper need assistance. Trainers and camp administrators also reside in the dorm should a camper need emergency access to medical assistance, medical records, or a phone.
Will my childs roommate request be honored?
We will make every effort to honor requests. Most rooms will be doubles but in some cases triples will be available. In cases where campers have requested more than one roommate or a group of campers all requested the same person, we will make a selection. We will also try and honor those requests for blocks of rooms near each other. We will not assign roommates to rooms until one weeks before each camp, therefore you have up until that time to change if need be.
How are cancellations/refunds handled?
We request that any person wanting to cancel their camp registration write us at UCB 372 Boulder, CO 80309 or email us at cusoccercamp@ aol.com. Deposit is refundable as follows: 80% until 3 days prior to camp, 50% within 3 days, no refunds after camp has started.
Can I pay my balance over the phone by credit card?
Yes! You can also use credit cards through our online registration directly from this website.
Will laundry facilities be available for my child who goes through tons of clothes?
Yes, the dorms will have coin operated laundry facilities available to campers.
How are teams organized?
Each team of 14-15 players is grouped by age and level of experience. Since the teams play each other in the evenings, they are organized this way to keep their competitive levels pretty even.
Can goalkeepers room with field players at the same camp?
Sure. Just indicate the roommate preference on the application.
